Topps Heritage Football: the 1976 design, 50 years later
Heritage is the Topps line that looks back exactly fifty years. In 2026 that means 1976 Topps Football – the year of Walter Payton's rookie card and the season the NFL grew to 28 teams with the arrival of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Seattle Seahawks. 2026 Topps Heritage Football puts that unmistakable look on the biggest names and rookies of today's game: a new base set in 1976 style, returning Heritage favourites and two brand-new inserts that dig even deeper into the story of that season. Heritage football cards are built on exactly this meeting of past and present – classic design, current checklist. Browse more boxes in our NFL and American football trading cards collection.

Base set and returning Heritage favourites
The core of the release is a new base set built on the 1976 Topps Football design, featuring today's biggest stars and rookies. For collectors of Topps Heritage football cards, the familiar staples are back as well:
- Base set – a new set in the style of 1976 Topps Football, with current stars and rookies
- League Leaders – the classic Heritage subset returns for 2026
- Real One Autographs – Heritage's returning autograph set, built around the tradition and history of the brand
New inserts: All-Pro Series and Expansion
Two inserts appear in Heritage for the first time, and both come straight from 1976 football history.
- All-Pro Series – an homage to the 24-card 1976 Wonder Bread Football set, reimagined with 24 All-Pro stars of the 2025 NFL season
- Expansion – celebrates the NFL's 1976 expansion era and features the 28 teams that made up the league at that pivotal moment
Prefer the modern design? The 2026 Topps Flagship Football Hobby Box has the same 20-pack format with 12 cards per pack and 1 autograph or relic per box, and the 2026 Topps Flagship Football Mega Box is the retail way into the set. Our Flagship Football release guide compares all four formats.
